An encyclopedia of the individual and collective knowledge about world issues and current events held by CGW4U1 students;
An evaluation tool used by the instructor to appraise knowledge gained in the subject discipline over the course of the year;
An oh-so-crafty attempt to incorporate technology into the curriculum, while mimicking the widely successful Wikipedia.
Process
1.If you are reading this, you have already signed into your Wikispaces account.Congratulations!Step one (successfully) accomplished.
2.You have likely already been given a topic from your brilliant instructor.If not, be sure to track her down and politely request one.
3.Peruse your mountains of notes from the year and select the most significant and impressive pieces of information on your topic to include in a word document. Consider the following:
- Define / describe the term(s)
- Why is this topic significant to the world?
- Who/what are the key players, events, dates, associated with this topic/concept?
- What other topics studied in this course would this issue link to? (You will eventually create a hyperlink to allow the reader to "jump" to these other topics)
4.Refer to wikipedia if you need help with formatting, or determining the type of information that is normally written on wikis.Do not merely copy the wikipedia entry for your topic and paste it in the Wikispaces page.That, my friend, would be plagiarism!
5.Create a “new page” on wikispaces, with the title of the page related to your topic (eg. NAFTA).Select “edit this page”.
6.Copy and paste your own, original word document into this page.Save your work when you are finished.
7.Login to edit other entries.
8.All entries must be completed by May 20th at 8:30 am.Edits will begin on May 20th at 10:15 am, and must be completed on May 24th by midnight.
